Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and support secure, scalable, and reliable enterprise applications.
- Build user interfaces, APIs, and microservices using Java, Spring, React, or Angular.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, engineers, architects, quality assurance, and DevOps teams.
- Implement unit, integration, component, and mutation testing strategies.
- Contribute to technical design, code reviews, continuous improvement, and engineering knowledge sharing.
- Support application reliability and production issue resolution through logging, monitoring, and observability.
- Maintain compliance with Barclays engineering, security, risk, and control standards.
- Coordinate with related teams and stakeholders and advise on technical decisions within the area of expertise.
Requirements
- Demonstrable experience developing and supporting enterprise applications with Java 17 or Java 21 and the Spring Framework, including Spring Boot, Spring MVC, and Spring Security.
- Strong experience building modern user interfaces with React or Angular and strong knowledge of JavaScript and front-end development practices.
- Experience designing, developing, and maintaining secure, scalable, high-performing APIs and microservices.
- Understanding of software development lifecycle practices, dependency management with Maven or Gradle, version control, code reviews, and engineering best practices.
- Hands-on experience with automated testing tools and approaches including JUnit, Mockito, Karate, WireMock, React Testing Library, and PIT.
- Experience with Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server databases, including data modeling, query optimization, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with logging, monitoring, and observability platforms such as Elastic and Kibana.
- Experience with GitLab or Bitbucket is beneficial.
- Experience with Jenkins, GitLab Continuous Integration, Docker, OpenShift, Kubernetes, and cloud architecture is beneficial.
- Experience in Agile delivery environments and familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, or GitLab Duo is beneficial.
- Ability to demonstrate technical expertise, make evaluative judgments, resolve problems, communicate complex information, and influence stakeholders.
