Responsibilities
- Lead development and customization of Android OS components, including system services, frameworks, and native applications.
- Integrate and optimize hardware drivers, kernel modules, and system libraries for target devices.
- Conduct code reviews and maintain high standards for code quality, performance, and security.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Collaborate with product managers, UX/UI designers, and other stakeholders to define and deliver features.
- Analyze and optimize system performance, memory usage, and power consumption.
- Debug and resolve Android platform and application issues to maintain stability and reliability.
- Document design decisions, code changes, and development processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 4+ years of software development experience with a strong focus on Android platform development and AOSP.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience with version control systems such as Git.
- Proficiency in Java and Kotlin for Android development.
- Strong understanding of C/C++ for low-level programming and system integration.
- Experience with Android SDK, Android NDK, and AOSP build systems.
- Familiarity with Linux kernel development and device drivers.
- Knowledge of Android security architecture and best practices.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, verbal communication, and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Experience running Android on x86 hardware or GSIs is a plus.
- Experience with open-source organizations such as LineageOS is a plus.
- Experience with CTS tests and building CTS-compliant Android platforms is desired.
- Experience with Android OS for GMS-certified devices is a strong plus.
- Experience with the Android telephony layer, including Android RIL, is a bonus.
- Experience building Android apps and working in the enterprise space is preferred.
