Responsibilities
- Lead the design and architecture of complex software systems and engineering roadmaps.
- Make key technical decisions affecting project direction and take full ownership of high-quality results.
- Develop display drivers and firmware for Surface Windows devices.
- Debug modern multiprocessor systems using hardware-level code debuggers and diagnostic tools.
- Collaborate across hardware, software, design, and manufacturing disciplines.
- Help build an engineering culture focused on excellence, customer passion, collaboration, and inclusion.
- Hire and develop engineering talent.
- Plan and adjust work in a dynamic global environment; some travel may be required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer or Software Engineering or equivalent experience.
- At least 8 years of experience in embedded systems, drivers, and firmware.
- Proficiency in C/C++ and driver development.
- Strong debugging skills for modern multiprocessor systems and familiarity with hardware-level debuggers and diagnostic tools.
- Deep understanding of Windows and PC architecture, including driver architecture.
- Knowledge of the Windows Driver Frameworks, including WDF, KMDF, and UMDF.
- Working knowledge of display technologies including DP, HDR, and OLED.
- Working knowledge of hardware including GPU and TCON.
- Experience with display color calibration.
- Effective verbal and written communication, including explaining block diagrams and low-level C code.
- Ability to integrate technical concepts across disciplines and make progress in ambiguous situations.
- Self-driven, curious, proactive, motivated, and adaptable.
