Responsibilities

  • Own, integrate, extend, and optimize the core simulation runtime and physics engines for production robotics use.
  • Develop high-performance solvers and pipelines for rigid-body and deformable-body dynamics, contact-rich manipulation, and locomotion.
  • Partner with applied scientists to productionize novel simulation methods into robust, reusable software.
  • Optimize simulation performance across CPU and GPU through profiling, parallelization, and GPU-accelerated computation.
  • Build and maintain interfaces, APIs, and URDF, SDF, and USD model pipelines connecting simulation with the robotics stack.
  • Develop methods and tooling to measure and reduce the simulation-to-reality gap with science and controls teams.
  • Establish modular architecture, testing, performance, and maintainability practices for the simulation codebase.
  • Support large-scale reinforcement learning and policy-training workloads with reliable, reproducible simulation behavior.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of non-internship professional software development experience.
  • At least 5 years of programming experience with one or more software programming languages.
  • At least 5 years of experience leading the design or architecture of new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or engineering team leader.
  • Preferred: a master's degree or higher in robotics, mechanical or mechatronics engineering, systems engineering, or a related field.
  • Preferred: experience with modern physics engines or simulation ecosystems such as Isaac Lab, MuJoCo, Drake, or Newton.
  • Preferred: knowledge of rigid-body or deformable-body dynamics, contact mechanics, computational geometry, or numerical methods.
  • Preferred: experience with GPU-accelerated computing and high-performance parallel algorithms.
  • Preferred: experience with robotics model formats and pipelines including URDF, SDF, and USD.
  • Preferred: experience bridging simulation and real-world robotic systems through modeling, validation, and deployment.
  • Preferred: experience supporting reinforcement learning or policy-training workflows in simulation.
  • Preferred: experience transitioning research or prototypes into production and at scale.
  • Preferred: contributions to open-source robotics, simulation, or physics projects.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive health insurance including medical, dental, vision, and prescription coverage.
  • Basic Life and AD&D insurance, optional supplemental life plans, Employee Assistance Program, mental health support, and a medical advice line.
  • Flexible Spending Accounts and adoption and surrogacy reimbursement coverage.
  • 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
