Base Salary

$129k - $194k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and provide technical support for systems software products, including complex problem resolution, design, development, testing, operational integration, and user support.
  • Develop or modify operating-system applications and create automation tools from specifications.
  • Perform coding, benchmark testing, debugging, currency updates, configuration, documentation, and operational deployment.
  • Use Java/J2EE and related software development tools to develop enterprise applications on Linux, with Windows experience also relevant.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis and resolve performance and operational issues across multi-team environments.
  • Interface with system support groups to resolve problems, establish standards, and improve operating-system efficiency.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide leadership on small software-focused teams when required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field with 8 years of experience; or a related master's degree with 6 years of relevant experience; or 12 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Current, active, in-scope Government-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, required to start.
  • Experience with at least one object-oriented language, including Java, C#, C++, or Python, with strong Java/J2EE experience preferred or required by the role description.
  • Experience with software integration, formal testing, automated testing, automated build pipelines, coding standards, and configuration management.
  • Extensive experience with Java foundation classes and toolkits and enterprise application development on Linux; Windows experience is desired.
  • Experience using Maven, Git/GitHub, Nexus, and Eclipse.
  • Strong problem-solving, root-cause analysis, oral and written communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Experience mentoring and motivating junior engineers; small-team or Agile team leadership experience is preferred.
  • Understanding of server-side/database development, computer system administration, and standard systems engineering artifacts such as Use Cases and SysML diagrams is preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-team environment.
