Base Salary

$157k - $235k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, secure, and operate mission-focused software systems, cloud-native architectures, and data platforms.
  • Develop Python software, backend services, and RESTful APIs for reliable mission workflows and downstream consumers.
  • Build and operate ETL/ELT data pipelines, including ingestion, transformation, validation, publishing, and Airflow orchestration.
  • Design data models and database access patterns using PostgreSQL and MongoDB, including migrations and data quality strategies.
  • Implement containerized deployments with Docker and Kubernetes and provision Linux environments using Terraform and Ansible.
  • Engineer DevSecOps and CI/CD pipelines with security and quality gates and repeatable release processes.
  • Partner with UX, architecture, data, security, and operations teams to define technical strategy and influence roadmaps.
  • Lead architecture reviews, incident response, post-incident learning, compliance and observability integration, and engineering process improvements.
  • Produce design documents, RFCs, and runbooks; mentor engineers and raise engineering standards through reviews and design sessions.

Requirements

  • Typically requires 8 years of related experience with a bachelor's degree, 6 years with a master's degree, or 3 years with a PhD, or an equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
  • Requires strong Python development experience and experience building distributed systems in AWS or multi-cloud environments.
  • Requires experience with Docker, Kubernetes, DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, RESTful APIs, data pipelines, PostgreSQL or MongoDB, Linux, Terraform, and Ansible.
  • Requires familiarity with modern web technologies including React, JavaScript, and HTML/CSS.
  • Requires experience working in Agile development environments with strong documentation practices.
  • Must have an active Secret U.S. Government security clearance and be eligible to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance within one year of hire.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen to be considered for a security clearance and able to work in classified environments as needed.
  • Preferred qualifications include an advanced technical degree, compliance-aligned system hardening, AWS data platform experience, Airflow or Kafka, advanced Terraform or AWS CDK automation, Splunk, mission analysis or operational systems experience, AFSIM, production operations and incident response, and agentic development tools such as Codex, ChatGPT, Cursor, or Windsurf.
