Responsibilities
- Architect, build, package, configure, and troubleshoot Python applications and complex software systems.
- Deploy ML solutions and integrate AI tooling into VFX production workflows.
- Design and build web front-end UIs for dashboards, curation, job control, and review workflows.
- Implement cost-effective data and MLOps pipelines in collaboration with stakeholders and architects.
- Develop performance-critical components, services, APIs, and automation across Linux environments.
- Improve efficiency, stability, and observability through profiling, metrics, tracing, and diagnostics.
- Validate software with unit, integration, and end-to-end testing and maintain test coverage gates.
- Enforce formatting, linting, typing, code review, modularity, security, telemetry, and backward-compatibility standards.
- Write technical documentation and workflow guides for artists and developers.
- Manage escalated troubleshooting and debugging for ML-driven tools and services.
- Mentor developers, assign tasks where appropriate, collaborate across teams, and report to the Head of ML Technology.
Requirements
- Experience acting as an architect for Python applications.
- Strong Python, Bash, C++11–17, CMake, and Linux command-line skills.
- Experience building and troubleshooting non-trivial packages using autotools, setuptools/pip/poetry, and RPM.
- Solid understanding of systems architecture and software engineering fundamentals.
- Ability to explain complex technology to non-experts and collaborate effectively across teams.
- Experience as a lead on at least one project is preferred.
- Significant experience with a major package or ports system is preferred.
- Experience monitoring, collecting, and analyzing diagnostics to improve resilience is preferred.
- Practical experience with Git and issue-tracking systems such as Jira is preferred.
- Familiarity with Elastic Stack, Graphite/Grafana/StatsD, Sensu, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions is preferred.
- Understanding of networking, filesystems, environment management, and other system-administration responsibilities is preferred.
- Relevant CS/CE qualifications, RHCSA/RHCE certification, and open-source contributions are preferred.
