Base Salary
$122k - $181k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and optimize distributed ML training and inference systems and hardware-accelerated pipelines.
- Develop high-performance ML infrastructure components in C++ and Python.
- Profile, benchmark, and resolve performance bottlenecks across the ML stack.
- Architect ML systems while evaluating memory bandwidth, compute utilization, and I/O trade-offs.
- Collaborate with research and product teams to translate model requirements into infrastructure solutions.
- Write automated tests and build monitoring and alerting for production anomalies.
- Support staged rollouts using feature flagging and experimentation frameworks.
- Document new and updated ML infrastructure features.
- Participate in on-call rotations, mitigate production incidents, and contribute retrospectives.
- Review code and contribute to programs improving ML infrastructure quality.
Requirements
- Currently holds or is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a relevant technical field, or has equivalent practical experience; the degree must be completed before joining Meta.
- At least 2 years of software engineering experience focused on machine learning systems, AI infrastructure, or high-performance computing.
- Experience developing or optimizing ML training or inference pipelines with PyTorch, TensorFlow, or equivalent frameworks.
- Experience with distributed computing architectures and large-scale ML systems design.
- Experience programming in C++ and Python for performance-critical systems.
- Experience using profiling and performance analysis tools to resolve bottlenecks in ML or compute-intensive systems.
- Preferred experience includes ML compiler technologies such as MLIR, LLVM, TVM, XLA, or IREE.
- Preferred experience includes GPU programming with CUDA, ROCm, or equivalent accelerator kernel development.
- Preferred experience includes optimizing ranking or recommendation model inference on GPUs or TPUs.
- Preferred experience includes hardware-software co-design, numerics optimization, and SIMD or vectorization techniques.
- Preferred qualifications include responsible and ethical AI practices, AI workflow optimization, prompt/context engineering, and agent orchestration.
