Responsibilities
- Build and manage CI systems at massive scale, including batching, speculative stacking, and merge-race inhibition.
- Build and manage systems for identifying, reproducing, and reducing flaky tests while improving test effectiveness.
- Enhance CI reliability through adaptive capacity management, outage recovery, self-healing, and observability.
- Detect and isolate code breakages to minimize their impact.
- Scope and lead large technical projects across multiple teams.
- Design, build, maintain, and make architecture decisions for Stripe’s core CI systems.
- Write production code and contribute to core interface design.
- Mentor engineers and help develop future technical leaders.
- Drive effective use of AI-assisted implementation, operations, and delivery within the team.
- Work directly with product engineers to understand and deliver developer productivity needs.
Requirements
- 10+ years of professional hands-on software development experience.
- Hands-on experience designing and building large-scale distributed systems.
- A track record of technically mentoring junior and senior engineers.
- Preferred: experience with developer tooling, CI/CD, or DevOps.
- Preferred: ability to define and drive complex initiatives across multiple teams.
- Preferred: success collaborating across disciplines and teams.
- Preferred: ability to operate with high autonomy, responsibility, and an entrepreneurial mindset.
- Preferred: customer-focused communication and decision-making skills.
