Responsibilities
- Lead a team responsible for Linux and VMware initiator-stack behavior, Fibre Channel drivers, and NIC drivers on Pure Storage arrays.
- Develop and fix Linux initiator-stack software, debug initiator issues, and create customer compatibility documentation for Purity.
- Maintain Fibre Channel SCSI target drivers, NIC drivers, related utilities, and code supporting enhancements and resilience.
- Evaluate and optimize Linux initiator behavior and storage performance for FlashArray, including correctness and upstream Linux bug fixes and enhancements.
- Debug difficult Fibre Channel, storage attachment, kernel, protocol, and system failures found internally or in the field.
- Work on multipathing, link health, hardware support, and middleware C++ modules.
- Maintain Linux kernels for internal testing and document supported customer configurations.
- Mentor engineers and lead technical projects across the kernel and driver development team.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of software development experience; candidates typically have 15 or more years.
- Strong experience writing Linux/Unix device drivers and developing kernels, preferably for storage or networking.
- Experience designing and implementing significant components in storage protocol stacks and storage systems.
- Experience with SCSI, FC-SCSI, iSCSI/FCP, or NVMe Fabrics such as NVMe/RoCE, NVMe/TCP, or NVMe/FC.
- Experience leading engineers technically, mentoring junior engineers, and leading projects to timely, high-quality delivery.
- Experience analyzing and optimizing storage-system or protocol performance.
- Experience with VMware and its initiator stack.
- Experience developing Linux storage device drivers, including Fibre Channel, NVMe, RoCE, block, and multipath modules.
- Experience debugging difficult storage attachment, protocol, kernel, and system issues.
- Software development experience with C, C++, and Python.
- Experience developing test automation.
- Experience with Linux code upstreaming is preferred.
- Experience with network protocols, including TCP/IP.
