Responsibilities
- Manage database operations including access, scaling, performance tuning, upgrades, backups, and recovery strategies.
- Improve the stability, scalability, reliability, and performance of Rover’s web application and datastores.
- Collaborate with developers on schema migrations, query tuning, and database performance optimization.
- Monitor systems and configure alerting using Datadog and CloudWatch.
- Participate in on-call rotations, troubleshoot production issues, and perform root cause analysis.
- Build self-service automation tools and Python scripts for migration and model-tuning workflows.
- Design Terraform infrastructure for AWS RDS management and deployment.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience as a full-stack or backend engineer, preferably with Django and Python.
- Strong knowledge of databases, schema design, database fundamentals, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and AWS RDS.
- Experience operating, maintaining, and diagnosing issues in AWS production environments.
- Proficiency with infrastructure as code such as Terraform or CDK.
- Familiarity with Datadog, CloudWatch, or the ELK stack.
- Computer Science or equivalent background.
- Candidates must be based in Barcelona or willing to relocate.
