Responsibilities
- Support the 2025 launch and ongoing operation of the AWS European Sovereign Cloud for EU customers.
- Review operational health, identify anomalies, file actionable bug reports, and improve availability, reliability, latency, performance, and efficiency.
- Develop and test scripts and automation to improve operational workflows.
- Review change management documents, address operational backlogs, and create or improve standard operating procedures.
- Operate and troubleshoot high-availability distributed systems and participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation.
- Root-cause incidents and help maintain resilient and fault-tolerant systems.
- Collaborate with global AWS teams, mentor engineers, lead cross-organizational efforts, and educate service teams about ESC.
Requirements
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
- Must be a national of an EU member state and reside in the EU.
- Experience with Linux operating systems and network troubleshooting, or networking administration and troubleshooting.
- Experience with Python, Perl, or another scripting language.
- Experience in systems engineering, site reliability engineering, or building and operating systems at scale.
- Ability to lead the creation, revision, or improvement of standard operating procedures and drive operational best practices.
- Preferred experience with monitoring frameworks such as CloudWatch, Datadog, Grafana, or Elastic.
- Preferred experience operating 24x7 high-availability distributed applications, performance tuning, and fleet utilization optimization.
- Preferred experience with infrastructure as code such as CDK, CloudFormation, Puppet, Chef, or Ansible.
- Preferred experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and generative AI technologies including prompt engineering, model deployment, and AI-powered automation tools.
- Preferred experience mentoring junior engineers, working cross-organizationally, and leading strategic team efforts.
