Responsibilities
- Architect and build scalable, secure, and resilient backend systems using Java.
- Lead design and implementation of core components across Kubernetes, Docker, and AWS, GCP, or Azure cloud-native services.
- Develop and enhance Sonatype’s software supply chain security products, including Nexus Repository and Nexus IQ.
- Translate complex business requirements into robust technical solutions with product management and cross-functional teams.
- Integrate security into build and deployment automation and CI/CD pipelines.
- Provide architectural guidance, code reviews, technical leadership, and mentorship to engineering teams.
- Improve testing, observability, reliability, performance, platform scalability, data processing pipelines, and distributed system architecture.
- Evaluate and integrate open-source tools and libraries and participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and reliability engineering.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of professional software engineering experience, including at least 2 years in a Staff Engineer or equivalent technical leadership role.
- Proven experience designing and building scalable, production-grade full-stack applications.
- Strong proficiency in Java and/or Kotlin, including RESTful APIs and microservices.
- Proficiency with React and experience deploying applications to AWS.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and modern DevOps workflows.
- Familiarity with secure software development practices and security integration in full-stack applications.
- Experience collaborating across engineering, product, and design teams in an agile environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience mentoring and coaching engineers.
- Preferred experience with OWASP, SAST, DAST, Terraform, CloudFormation, AWS Lambda, API Gateway, and open-source contributions.
