Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deliver scalable Java backend services using modern cloud-native technologies.
- Work across requirements, technical design, implementation, testing, deployment, production operations, and continuous improvement.
- Build and operate distributed systems, microservices, event-driven architectures, APIs, caching, and database solutions.
- Optimize performance, reliability, scalability, and low-latency behavior for high-throughput systems.
- Participate in technical design discussions, code reviews, and architecture reviews.
- Mentor engineers and help establish engineering best practices across the team.
Requirements
- Require 8–12 years of professional software engineering experience with strong Java backend development experience.
- Require extensive production experience with Spring Boot and Spring Framework.
- Require strong knowledge of distributed systems, microservices, backend design patterns, and API design.
- Require hands-on MongoDB experience including data modeling, indexing, query optimization, and performance considerations.
- Require strong experience with Kafka or equivalent event-streaming platforms and hands-on Redis or other caching technologies.
- Require experience with Akamai, CDN, reverse proxy, edge caching, or similar traffic-management technologies.
- Prefer experience designing and operating high-throughput, low-latency distributed systems.
- Prefer experience with AWS services including EC2, EKS, ALB, CloudWatch, S3, and ElastiCache.
- Prefer experience with Redis or Valkey, cache invalidation, TTL management, distributed caching, and cache failure scenarios.
- Prefer knowledge of Kafka partitioning, replication, ordering, consumer lag, rebalancing, retries, and delivery guarantees.
- Prefer MongoDB replication, sharding, indexing, aggregation pipelines, and high-volume workload experience.
- Prefer experience with Akamai CDN, edge caching, traffic routing, bot management, WAF, or related edge technologies.
- Prefer experience with Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Splunk, Datadog, or CloudWatch.
- Prefer knowledge of OAuth2, JWT, TLS, OWASP, authentication, authorization, and secure API design.
- Prefer experience with Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform, GitOps, or infrastructure-as-code practices.
- Prefer experience with event-driven and asynchronous architectures, performance engineering, load testing, capacity planning, and production tuning.
- Familiarity with Generative AI, LLM-based developer tools, AI-assisted software development, or agentic workflows is a plus.
- Experience in large-scale engineering organizations with globally distributed teams is a plus.
