Responsibilities

  • Operate, scale, and continuously improve high-availability AWS European Sovereign Cloud services for EU customers.
  • Review operational health, identify anomalies, create actionable bug reports, and improve service availability, reliability, latency, performance, and efficiency.
  • Participate in 24x7 on-call rotations, investigate incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and maintain resilient and fault-tolerant systems.
  • Develop and test scripts, address operational backlogs, and contribute to change management documentation.
  • Create, revise, and improve standard operating procedures and operational best practices.
  • Collaborate with global AWS teams, technology leaders, and service teams while educating others about the European Sovereign Cloud.
  • Support the development and operation of scalable systems and operations teams.

Requirements

  • Fluency in written and spoken English is required.
  • Must be a national of an EU member state and reside in the EU.
  • Experience with Linux operating systems and network troubleshooting, or networking administration and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Python, Perl, or another scripting language.
  • Experience in systems engineering, site reliability engineering, or building and operating systems at scale.
  • Ability to lead the creation, revision, or improvement of standard operating procedures and drive operational best practices.
  • Preferred: experience with monitoring frameworks such as CloudWatch, Datadog, Grafana, or Elastic.
  • Preferred: experience mentoring junior engineers, working cross-organizationally, and leading strategic team efforts.
  • Preferred: experience operating 24x7 high-availability distributed applications, performance tuning, and optimizing fleet utilization.
  • Preferred: experience with infrastructure as code such as CDK, CloudFormation, Puppet, Chef, or Ansible.
  • Preferred: experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, generative AI technologies, prompt engineering, model deployment, and AI-powered automation tools.
