Responsibilities
- Own the technical delivery strategy, including work decomposition, sequencing, integration, and incremental delivery.
- Shape and drive adoption of cross-cutting architecture patterns for resilience, event-driven integration, idempotency, and observability.
- Guide architecture decisions toward practical delivery and unblock teams when decisions stall.
- Establish scalable engineering practices including test-driven development, contract testing, continuous integration, trunk-based development, and vertical slicing.
- Coach engineers and architects through pairing, design reviews, code reviews, and hands-on technical demonstrations.
- Apply strategic and tactical domain-driven design, including bounded contexts, context mapping, aggregates, domain events, repositories, and anti-corruption layers.
- Define testing strategies for event-driven microservices across unit, integration, contract, and end-to-end testing.
- Create reusable patterns, service templates, and architectural guardrails that help teams become self-sufficient.
- Drive adoption of AI-assisted engineering across architecture, design, coding, testing, and delivery workflows.
Requirements
- Significant experience as a senior or principal engineer or technical lead delivering distributed systems in production.
- Deep hands-on experience with modern Java or Kotlin, Spring Boot, and microservices architectures.
- Experience shaping technical strategy and architecture direction across multiple teams.
- Strong experience with event-driven architectures, Kafka, event sourcing patterns, eventual consistency, and integration patterns.
- Practical experience applying domain-driven design at both strategic and tactical levels.
- Experience designing resilient distributed systems using circuit breakers, retries, timeouts, bulkheads, and graceful degradation.
- Demonstrated ability to coach and influence engineers and architects toward pragmatic engineering excellence.
- Experience applying AI tools to accelerate development, testing, or delivery workflows.
- Experience with iterative delivery approaches such as vertical slicing, walking skeletons, and integration-first delivery.
- Experience in payments, financial services, or high-volume transactional domains is preferred but not required.
- Exposure to Confluent Cloud, AWS, Kubernetes, GitLab CI, or observability tooling such as Dynatrace and distributed tracing is preferred.
