Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end technical architecture and direction of Ventures products across backend services, cloud infrastructure, web, iOS, and Android.
  • Take products from 0-to-1 prototypes through hardening, growth, and production operation.
  • Design and operate scalable distributed systems using gRPC, event streaming, durable workflows, real-time delivery, and resilient data architectures.
  • Build reusable platform capabilities for social features, predictions, live content, and integration with EA and third-party services.
  • Own production environments, deployments, infrastructure as code, observability, incident response, cloud costs, and safe staged releases.
  • Use AI coding agents as a core development workflow and establish tooling, guardrails, review practices, and AI-native engineering standards.
  • Partner with product, design, and client leads on roadmaps, technical plans, API and data contracts, and end-to-end feature design.
  • Set standards for code quality, testing, documentation, architecture, maintainability, and onboarding across Ventures.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including taking consumer products from 0-to-1 and operating them in production.
  • Deep backend expertise designing, building, and operating scalable distributed systems, ideally with Go, gRPC, and Protocol Buffers.
  • Experience with event-driven and real-time architectures, ideally using NATS JetStream or Kafka and durable workflow engines such as Temporal.
  • Strong data modeling experience across relational, document, and in-memory stores, ideally PostgreSQL, Firestore, and Redis.
  • Experience operating production services in the cloud, ideally Google Cloud and Kubernetes/GKE, with infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and observability practices.
  • Experience building software with AI coding agents, or strong demonstrable interest in doing so; this is essential.
  • Enough web and mobile fluency to architect end-to-end features and review client designs, ideally with SwiftUI, Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, and React.
  • Ability to own systems end to end, make sound independent technical decisions, and ship user-facing changes safely with feature flags, staged rollouts, and production monitoring.
  • Experience with real-time, social, sports, gaming, entertainment, founding-engineer work, or LLM-powered and agentic product features is preferred.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, judgment, ownership, adaptability, and knowledge-sharing skills are expected.

Benefits

  • Benefits may include healthcare coverage, mental well-being support, retirement savings, paid time off, family leaves, complimentary games, career support, and community wellness programs.
  • Electronic Arts supports learning, experimentation, professional growth, workplace accommodations, and an inclusive equal-opportunity work environment.
