Base Salary
$170k - $254k/yr
Responsibilities
- Influence the Digital team’s technology strategy in alignment with Citi Technology.
- Architect and deliver scalable, high-performance solutions across APIs, integrations, and infrastructure.
- Set and enforce engineering standards and lead design reviews, proof-of-concepts, and technical experiments.
- Translate complex requirements into software design artifacts and guide consistent implementation.
- Mentor and technically coach engineers through hands-on collaboration, pairing, and feedback.
- Coordinate estimation, solution planning, implementation leadership, and technical delivery across teams.
- Embed resilience, high availability, and high-throughput practices into platform architecture.
- Identify and communicate technical risks to protect delivery timelines and platform integrity.
- Establish standards, frameworks, guardrails, and evaluation criteria for AI-augmented engineering.
Requirements
- 10 or more years of hands-on software design and development experience.
- Deep Java expertise and demonstrated commitment to clean code and SOLID engineering principles.
- Practical experience building medium- to large-scale applications with Spring Boot, OpenShift, public cloud, and event-driven technology stacks.
- Ability to design and deliver core client-facing APIs and infrastructure.
- Experience setting engineering standards, leading design reviews and proof-of-concepts, and creating software design artifacts.
- Experience mentoring engineers and coordinating technical delivery across internal and cross-functional teams.
- Experience with resilience, high availability, high-throughput design, technical risk management, estimation, and solution planning.
- Clear communication skills for explaining technical decisions and delivery risks to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Bachelor’s or university degree required; master’s degree preferred.
- Preferred knowledge of applied AI, including LLMs, frontier-model APIs, retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings, vector search, agent and tool-use patterns, prompt and context engineering, and LLM evaluation and observability.
