Responsibilities
- Build and ship iOS client features for WhatsApp with strong performance, reliability, and responsiveness.
- Own iOS client architecture for payments, commerce, and money-centric services surfaces.
- Develop with Swift, Objective-C, the iOS SDK, and related frameworks while partnering with server and platform teams on API design.
- Set technical direction and goals, lead major initiatives end to end, and make engineering trade-offs in a zero-to-one environment.
- Architect scalable applications, resolve performance and scalability issues, and reduce technical debt.
- Own significant components, features, or systems and provide expert end-to-end technical understanding.
- Mentor peers, onboard team members, and raise engineering quality standards.
- Collaborate with product management, design, data science, operations, payments, legal, compliance, and local operations teams to ship reliable and compliant services in Brazil.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8+ years of programming experience in a relevant language, or 4+ years of experience with a PhD.
- Experience driving organizational change and leading complex technical projects.
- Experience using data and analysis to explain technical problems and provide detailed feedback and solutions.
- Preferred experience building complex iPhone or iPad applications with Objective-C, C++, Swift, the iOS SDK, and other frameworks.
- Preferred experience with multithreading, mobile memory management, high-cadence releases, Brazilian digital payments including Pix, and payment systems at scale.
- Preferred experience with monetization, payments, commerce, AI/ML products, zero-to-one products, global or emerging-market products, distributed teams, messaging platforms, or mobile-first consumer products.
- Preferred experience integrating AI tools, implementing responsible AI practices, and developing prompt/context engineering or agent orchestration skills.
