Responsibilities
- Identify developer and infrastructure problems that may justify new blockchain capabilities or products.
- Define experiment hypotheses, success criteria, constraints, and time limits.
- Prototype across blockchain clients, RPC, indexing, transaction infrastructure, backend services, and smart contracts.
- Read protocol specifications and implementation code and test assumptions with reproducible benchmarks and failure cases.
- Evaluate technical feasibility, security, operating cost, support effort, and developer or operational value.
- Take validated ideas through production design, testing, rollout, observability, and operational documentation.
- Write recommendations to continue, redirect, or stop experiments based on results.
- Participate in production support and incident response and own monitoring, runbooks, and post-launch fixes.
Requirements
- Track record of taking ambiguous engineering problems through prototypes and production delivery.
- Deep hands-on knowledge of at least one blockchain, including its execution model, transaction lifecycle, state, finality, and failure behavior.
- Strong software engineering skills and experience building backend or distributed systems.
- Ability to read unfamiliar code and specifications, form testable hypotheses, and design falsifiable experiments.
- Experience designing reproducible performance benchmarks and using profiling to identify CPU, memory, storage, and network bottlenecks.
- Careful reasoning about correctness and security, particularly where errors affect funds or chain state.
- Product judgment and ability to explain user needs, expected improvements, and whether results justify further investment.
- Clear collaboration and documentation skills.
- Helpful experience with blockchain clients, protocol implementations, open-source infrastructure, Rust, Go, C++, smart contracts, EVM implementation, CPU microarchitecture, compiler optimization, hardware performance counters, RPC performance, transaction submission, simulation, indexing, cross-chain infrastructure, or early-stage product decisions.
