Responsibilities
- Own and contribute to architecture and development of enterprise Java applications.
- Provide technical guidance on design and implementation across distributed development teams.
- Develop client and server components, backend services, data models, integrations, and high-performance processing logic.
- Modernise and modularise legacy forensic systems while supporting development of new platforms.
- Define software architecture, technical concepts, system decomposition, and design-pattern-based solutions.
- Design and optimise PostgreSQL-backed services and data models for scalability, integrity, and performance.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automated builds, deployments, and release processes.
- Manage containerised environments and build tooling using Docker, Maven, and Eclipse Tycho.
- Support testing, performance profiling, JVM tuning, production stability, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with product, QA, DevOps, architecture, business, and IT stakeholders.
- Support team mobilisation, onboarding, training, and knowledge transfer across nearshore and offshore teams.
Requirements
- Extensive experience (8+ years) in enterprise Java development and DevOps practices.
- Proficiency with Java 11 or Java 17, Java EE or Jakarta EE, Eclipse RCP, SWT, JFace, PostgreSQL, and WildFly Application Server.
- Experience with enterprise software architecture, object-oriented development, Clean Code, design patterns, application modularisation, and legacy system evolution.
- Experience with JPA/Hibernate, JPQL, CriteriaBuilder, backend engineering, and data-intensive systems.
- Experience with Git-based workflows, Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Maven, and Eclipse Tycho.
- Proven experience combining software architecture with hands-on development.
- Experience working in regulated or complex operational environments such as forensics or LIMS is preferred.
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Strong collaboration skills across distributed delivery teams.
