Responsibilities
- Develop strategies for acquiring research data from scientific laboratory instruments.
- Engineer and operationalize custom parsers for .xlsx, .pdf, .txt, .raw, .fid, and proprietary vendor binary formats.
- Architect and implement robust data models and scalable data pipelines.
- Build modular utility libraries and comprehensive unit and integration tests.
- Compare datasets from similar instruments or workflows to design shared, extensible data model components.
- Create visualizations, reports, and interactive dashboards using Streamlit, Tableau, Jupyter Notebook, and other platforms.
- Communicate technical products and delivery status effectively with product management and engineering teams.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience building solutions as a Data Engineer or in a similar field.
- At least 3 years of Python and SQL experience focused on data.
- Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and confidence taking control of project delivery.
- Ability to quickly understand highly technical products and communicate effectively with product management and engineering.
- A degree in biology, chemistry, or a relevant field, or more than 3 years of pharmaceutical or biotech industry experience in scientific data engineering, data modeling, or data analytics.
- Experience with Streamlit, Tableau, and Jupyter Notebook is a plus.
- Exposure to DevOps practices in cloud environments is desirable.
- Some React experience is desirable.
- Interest in using AI and LLMs to develop creative solutions to data problems is desirable.
