Responsibilities
- Define service-level objectives, error budgets, and supporting indicators with engineering teams.
- Investigate production issues across application, data, infrastructure, and network layers using logs, metrics, traces, profilers, heap and thread dumps, and query plans.
- Create technical documentation, runbooks, architecture notes, postmortems, and proofs of concept.
- Eliminate systemic toil through automation, AI agents, tooling, and process improvements.
- Establish repository context, integrations, tests, and guardrails for reliable AI-agent work.
- Drive cross-team reliability initiatives, review designs, influence roadmaps, and mentor engineers on SRE practices.
- Advise leadership and stakeholders during critical customer escalations.
- Improve Jamf’s SRE standards, tooling, and partnership with product engineering teams.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in software engineering, SRE, or production operations roles.
- Strong production troubleshooting skills across the technology stack.
- Experience working within an Agile development framework process.
- Hands-on experience operating production services on AWS, including services such as EC2, S3, EKS, RDS/Aurora, and CloudFront.
- Experience with observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, or LogicMonitor.
- Experience writing clear technical documentation for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience writing infrastructure as code.
- Experience writing production-standard automation in a general-purpose language such as Python, Go, or Java.
- Sound judgment when applying AI to SRE work, including production access and sensitive data.
- Hands-on experience using agentic development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot.
- Experience improving team practices for AI, including reusable skills, repository context files, or prompt patterns.
- Preferred experience optimizing SQL queries and tuning database engines.
- Preferred experience with CI/CD tooling such as GitHub Actions or Jenkins.
- Preferred exposure to chaos engineering, fault injection, disaster recovery exercises, and FinOps practices.
- Bachelor’s degree or a combination of relevant experience and education.
