Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of Customer Agent’s core platform and AI capabilities.
- Drive long-term technical strategy for conversational AI experiences serving millions of users.
- Build and ship complex AI-powered product features while balancing speed, quality, reliability, and customer impact.
- Make technical decisions involving agent architectures, orchestration, retrieval, memory, tool use, evaluation, and reliability.
- Establish observability, testing, monitoring, experimentation, and operational-excellence practices for AI systems.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives spanning multiple teams and organizations.
- Mentor engineers through design reviews, architecture discussions, and hands-on collaboration.
- Evaluate emerging AI technologies and influence Klaviyo’s broader AI platform direction.
Requirements
- 12+ years of software engineering experience building and operating production systems at scale.
- Significant experience designing and shipping customer-facing AI-powered products or agentic systems.
- Strong backend engineering and distributed-systems fundamentals, including reasoning about scale, latency, reliability, and operational tradeoffs.
- Expertise with LLM-powered applications, retrieval systems, agent workflows, orchestration, evaluation frameworks, and guardrails.
- Experience leading complex multi-quarter technical initiatives across multiple teams and stakeholders.
- Strong product judgment and ability to connect technical decisions to customer and business outcomes.
- Hands-on coding experience and a track record of technical leadership, mentorship, and organizational influence.
- Preferred experience with conversational AI, customer-support automation, agentic workflow platforms, production evaluation systems, AI observability, human-in-the-loop workflows, reliability engineering for LLM products, 0-to-1 products, or startup environments.
