Responsibilities
- Design and build the sensing-platform connector and adapter layer that maps LiDAR- and imagery-derived asset detections into OpenGov products.
- Architect detection-to-case pipelines that route sensing detections into product workflow engines with photo evidence, GPS coordinates, and severity scores.
- Evaluate, integrate, or build computer-vision and LiDAR-fusion models, including potential consolidation with or extension of the existing Vision AI microservice.
- Design the data model and storage layer for continuously updated spatial data shared across five Community Operations products.
- Own the technical design of a tiered sensing-ingestion model covering satellite, fleet-vehicle camera, and full LiDAR survey inputs.
- Partner with engineering and product leads to sequence the sensing roadmap against product asset taxonomies and compliance requirements.
- Write technical design documents and review AI-generated code for correctness, security, and architectural fit.
- Establish testing, monitoring, and data-quality standards for regulatory- and safety-relevant workflows.
- Set technical direction, reusable engineering patterns, and milestones while influencing cross-functional partners without formal authority.
Requirements
- 12+ years of software engineering experience with end-to-end ownership of complex cross-system integrations in a production SaaS environment.
- Experience building or integrating computer-vision, LiDAR, or geospatial data-processing pipelines; point-cloud or 3D spatial data experience is preferred.
- Strong data-modeling and API/connector design skills for reconciling third-party schemas with multiple internal data models.
- Preferred experience with geospatial systems, including PostGIS, spatial indexing, and coordinate reference systems.
- Ability to make and defend build-versus-integrate decisions amid incomplete information and ambiguous vendor integration paths.
- Experience partnering across multiple product teams and translating strategic technical vision into sequenced delivery plans.
- Experience shipping systems where data accuracy has regulatory, infrastructure, or public-sector safety consequences is preferred.
- Proficiency with AI-native engineering workflows, including directing AI tooling for scaffolding, test generation, and code review.
- Excellent written communication and ability to produce technical design documents for multiple product teams.
