Base Salary
$200k - $400k/yr
Responsibilities
- Identify workflow bottlenecks across build, test, release, and local development and build tools that reduce measurable toil.
- Create and maintain golden paths, including service templates, CLIs, libraries, and automation.
- Design reusable CI pipelines and deployment workflows that are fast, safe, and easy for teams to adopt.
- Improve build and test reliability through flake reduction, hermeticity, and caching while reducing cycle time.
- Support progressive delivery patterns such as canary and blue-green deployments and safe rollback mechanisms.
- Establish shared observability primitives, standards, and libraries for metrics, logs, and traces.
- Partner with product engineers to improve SLOs, alerting hygiene, dashboards, and incident learnings.
- Build and improve core platform capabilities that make services easier to run and scale.
- Own platform systems end-to-end, keep them healthy in production, and improve their reliability over time.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of production software development experience, with meaningful platform, developer tools, infrastructure, SRE, or release engineering experience.
- Strong coding ability in at least one systems or productivity language, such as Python or TypeScript/JavaScript, plus experience building CLIs, libraries, or automation for developers.
- Hands-on experience designing scalable, reusable CI/CD pipelines across multiple repositories or services.
- Practical production observability experience, including instrumentation, alerting, dashboards, and incident response.
- Comfort with containers and modern cloud infrastructure, including Docker and Kubernetes or related tooling.
- Demonstrated improvements to developer experience through outcomes such as faster builds, fewer flaky tests, safer deployments, or fewer incidents.
- Strong cross-team collaboration and communication skills, including writing clear documentation and driving adoption.
- Preferred: experience with monorepos, build systems, large-scale CI performance, internal platforms, service templates, paved-road deployments, self-serve environments, or developer portals.
- Preferred: infrastructure-as-code experience such as Terraform and a security-minded approach to software supply-chain security, provenance, secrets, and least privilege.
- Preferred: experience applying AI-assisted tooling to improve engineering effectiveness.
