Responsibilities
- Lead teams in delivering large, complex, ambiguous initiatives across team boundaries and remain accountable for outcomes.
- Own engineering performance improvement jointly with the Engineering Manager.
- Drive engineering-led improvements, technical standards, and effective use of AI tooling across Product Engineering.
- Act as a recognized technical authority and solve technical problems within the area of focus.
- Set technical strategy aligned with commercial outcomes and end-to-end customer needs.
- Partner with Engineering and Product Managers to define technical and product vision.
- Drive durable, scalable, and secure architectural decisions for the team and domain.
- Communicate with and manage stakeholders at all levels, including during contentious discussions.
- Mentor and coach engineers while giving and receiving feedback.
- Identify and resolve cross-team friction, misalignment, and differing priorities.
Requirements
- Track record of owning complex, ambiguous delivery across team boundaries and driving outcomes beyond feature shipping.
- Passion for mentoring and coaching with feedback embedded in working practices.
- Strong ability to identify and resolve cross-team friction or misalignment.
- Experience with at least one major programming language, such as Python, Ruby, or Clojure.
- Recognized technical authority whose advice and judgment are trusted across sub-departments.
- Proven ability to use AI tooling personally and help teammates develop fluency with it.
