Responsibilities
- Partner with the CEO and global leadership to translate strategic visions and AI capabilities into functional, market-ready software.
- Lead the technical evaluation and implementation of emerging AI technologies and intelligent workflows for Airwallex’s financial platform.
- Make pragmatic architectural decisions that balance rapid prototyping with maintainability and future scale.
- Own end-to-end delivery across backend architecture, systems design, data models, and user interfaces.
- Establish technical foundations for incubation projects and support their transition into standalone product lines.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, including Staff-level work or technical direction in fast-paced, greenfield environments.
- Strong product sense and ability to connect engineering decisions to user experience and business impact.
- Ability to independently define technical specifications from ambiguous, high-level direction.
- Resourceful, self-directed approach focused on delivering outcomes and overcoming technical or institutional blockers.
- Deep backend capabilities and practical full-stack experience, including building frontend interfaces.
- Ability to communicate technical trade-offs with infrastructure teams and present product outcomes to executive stakeholders.
- Preferred experience building software with generative AI, LLMs, or automated agent workflows.
- Preferred experience in fintech, payments, multi-currency ledgering, or regulated financial systems.
- Preferred experience as a founding engineer, R&D technical lead, or technical co-founder.
- Familiarity with AWS or GCP, PostgreSQL, Redis, and modern frontend frameworks.
