Responsibilities
- Analyze complex business problems and opportunities and prepare technical specifications, estimates, data mappings, interface designs, and development-ready requirements.
- Evaluate solution options and make buy-versus-build recommendations.
- Develop, test, implement, troubleshoot, and support AMISYS applications, interfaces, transactions, batch processes, and data solutions.
- Create, review, and execute unit test plans, integration test scenarios, and validation activities.
- Perform root-cause analysis, resolve defects and production incidents, and communicate business impacts and results.
- Coordinate vendor solution delivery and collaborate with business analysts, testers, architects, vendors, and junior developers.
- Provide application and code expertise, technical direction to junior staff, and guidance on development and testing practices.
- Manage technical deliverables including estimates, build activities, testing support, deployment readiness, and status reporting.
Requirements
- 5–7 years of AMISYS development experience, preferably in a healthcare payer or managed care environment.
- Hands-on experience with AMISYS or AMISYS Advance across claims processing, member and provider data, benefits, encounters, and configuration-driven workflows.
- Strong experience with AMISYS claims processing, claims interfaces, claims conversions, pre-adjudication edits, and EDI 837 inbound transactions.
- Experience troubleshooting complex application, interface, transaction, batch, and data issues and providing production support.
- Experience with software development tools such as Rational and with testing methodologies.
- Experience with at least one major database system, including DB2, Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, or Teradata.
- Significant experience with a development language or platform used in AMISYS environments, including COBOL, JCL, CICS, VSAM, Delphi/Object Pascal, Java, or similar technologies.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or mathematics, or an associate degree in computer science.
- Ability to communicate technical information, gather requirements, analyze data, manage deliverables, collaborate with vendors, and exercise sound judgment in complex situations.
