Base Salary
$200k - $230k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate core infrastructure systems for large-scale training and inference.
- Develop benchmarks, traces, and simulators to evaluate scheduling, caching, and network performance.
- Identify and eliminate bottlenecks across kernels, drivers, scheduler policies, and other infrastructure layers using measurements.
- Translate systems research ideas into production systems that withstand real workloads and failures.
- Collaborate with research and inference teams so infrastructure and model design inform one another.
- Contribute to technical direction by tracking emerging hardware, interconnects, and systems research.
Requirements
- PhD completed within the last six months or expected by December 2026 in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a similar field.
- Research background in distributed systems, operating systems, scheduling and resource management, storage systems, computer networks, computer architecture, or high-performance computing.
- Demonstrated depth in scheduling and resource management, distributed storage and caching, or datacenter networking through a dissertation, publications, or systems built.
- Strong systems programming skills in C/C++, Rust, Go, or a similar language, plus working proficiency in Python.
- Experience building and evaluating real systems and rigorously analyzing performance through measurements.
- Ability to communicate systems designs and results clearly to audiences with different backgrounds.
- Preferred qualifications include first-authored publications at top-tier systems or networking venues such as OSDI, SOSP, NSDI, EuroSys, SIGCOMM, ATC, FAST, ASPLOS, MLSys, and SC.
- Preferred qualifications include infrastructure, cloud, or HPC internships; meaningful systems open-source contributions; GPU cluster or accelerator programming experience; Kubernetes or cloud infrastructure experience; distributed performance profiling and debugging; and research or engineering achievements such as grants, fellowships, patents, or systems competitions.
