Base Salary
$179k - $246k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead a portfolio of technology projects and a team of developers building distributed microservices and full-stack systems.
- Provide technical leadership across teams by setting standards for design, development, and operational excellence.
- Collaborate with product managers and architects to deliver cloud-based solutions and define service boundaries, integration patterns, and reusable frameworks.
- Use programming languages, databases, containers, orchestration services, and AWS tools to develop and operate software solutions.
- Identify opportunities for refactoring, technical-debt reduction, and distributed-system performance improvement.
- Mentor engineers, participate in technology communities, and influence long-term technology strategy.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative field.
- At least 4 years of software engineering experience; internship experience does not apply.
- At least 2 years of experience with public cloud platforms, cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies.
- Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree, 7+ years coding with multiple listed languages, and 3+ years with databases, cloud technologies, front-end frameworks, APIs, troubleshooting, or other listed engineering capabilities.
- Preferred experience includes open-source contributions, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, automated testing, Git-based version control, observability, AI coding tools, mentoring, and leading cross-functional or large-scale engineering initiatives.

- Annual full-time salary varies by location: $179,400-$204,700 in Richmond, $197,300-$225,100 in McLean, and $215,200-$245,600 in New York.
- Eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives.
