Base Salary
$121k - $171k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead the full software development lifecycle for mission-critical payment applications from architecture through deployment and production ownership.
- Design and build high-throughput, low-latency microservices using Java, Spring Boot, and cloud-native principles.
- Architect active-active multi-region failover, zero-downtime releases, and blue-green or canary deployment pipelines targeting 99.99%+ availability.
- Modernize legacy payment platforms through Domain-Driven Design, event-driven architecture, Docker, and Kubernetes/OpenShift.
- Define and enforce standards for RESTful and event-based interfaces.
- Mentor and guide a cross-functional engineering team while establishing code review and technical quality practices.
- Integrate AI-powered developer tools and AI/ML capabilities such as anomaly detection, intelligent test generation, and observability into payment workflows.
- Partner with product managers, business analysts, and operations teams to translate financial requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Establish end-to-end observability with distributed tracing, real-time alerting, and production dashboards.
Requirements
- 6+ years of software engineering experience delivering complex enterprise-scale applications, including at least 3 years in a technical leadership role.
- Expertise in Java and Spring Boot for production microservices, with front-end capability in Angular, HTML5, and CSS3.
- Practical knowledge of Circuit Breakers, Saga orchestration, and idempotent API design for high-throughput payment pipelines.
- Experience with Apache Kafka or RabbitMQ and containerization technologies including Docker and Kubernetes.
- Proficiency with relational databases such as Oracle and NoSQL databases such as MongoDB.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipeline design, automated testing strategies, and modern DevOps practices.
- Experience adopting and scaling AI-powered development tools such as GitHub Copilot or equivalent LLM-based platforms.
- Experience establishing observability stacks with distributed tracing, real-time alerting, and production dashboards.
- Familiarity with financial services or payments standards such as SWIFT, ISO 20022, or clearing and settlement systems is beneficial.
- Experience integrating AI/ML capabilities such as predictive alerting or intelligent test generation into regulated production financial systems is beneficial.
- Exposure to AI-driven observability platforms is beneficial.
