Base Salary
$130k - $220k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own edge networking configuration, including routing, WAF policy, rate limiting, and certificate management.
- Evolve the ingress layer, including controllers, lifecycle, policy, and the Ingress API, for reliable, observable, self-service inbound traffic.
- Manage DNS across internal clusters and external zones.
- Build network-layer observability for latency, error rates, and routing visibility.
- Extend networking into new geographies to support scalable, performant, and maintainable regional expansion.
- Help define the team’s technical standards and practices, including static analysis, chaos engineering, simulation, and AI tooling usage.
Requirements
- Experience building and shipping production services in a polyglot environment using Go, TypeScript, or similar languages.
- Experience diagnosing production issues at the network layer, including issues involving proxies and load balancers.
- Practical Kubernetes networking experience with ingress controllers, DNS, and network policies.
- Practical infrastructure-as-code experience with an emphasis on safe change management and governance.
- Experience building internal platforms or tools and driving adoption across engineering teams.
- Cloudflare experience with Workers, WAF, Access, or Tunnel is preferred.
- Istio or other service mesh experience in a multi-cluster environment is preferred.
- GKE or managed Kubernetes experience at scale is preferred.
- Ruby or Rails experience is preferred.
- Ability and interest in prototyping new ideas and operating approaches is preferred.
