Responsibilities

  • Lead strategically important AI/ML initiatives and shape architecture and engineering practices.
  • Design, build, deploy, and operate end-to-end ML products, pipelines, and services.
  • Own the production ML lifecycle, including experimentation, versioning, evaluation, deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
  • Establish evaluation frameworks to track performance, detect drift, and maintain quality at scale.
  • Develop and optimise LLM, relevance, retrieval, ranking, and generative AI solutions.
  • Leverage or fine-tune third-party models, embeddings, transformers, and LLMs in production.
  • Build and evolve data and feature foundations for real-time and batch inference.
  • Contribute to shared ML platform capabilities and raise engineering quality through mentoring and technical guidance.
  • Act as an AI/ML engineering subject matter expert and champion ethical and compliant data use.

Requirements

  • Deep experience delivering production AI/ML systems across machine learning, ML engineering, MLOps, software engineering, and modern LLM-based solutions.
  • Experience leading complex technical initiatives from discovery and solution design through planning and delivery.
  • Expertise across the full ML lifecycle, including data preparation, training, evaluation, inference, deployment, observability, and optimisation.
  • High proficiency in Python and SQL, with strong software engineering practices including test automation and CI/CD.
  • Ability to evaluate ML approaches, tools, and trade-offs for business and product problems.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills with experience uplifting engineers and influencing technical direction.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong ownership of production systems with a focus on reliability, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across product, machine learning, engineering, data engineering, and consumer experience disciplines.
