Responsibilities
- Design and build autonomous software for Bonsai Intelligence’s fleet of agricultural and other autonomous equipment.
- Develop documented and tested production software in C++, Python, and Rust using ROS2.
- Own mission-critical navigation, task execution, and state management systems across diverse form factors and customer needs.
- Review code and design documentation for correctness and alignment with system design.
- Support, debug, and problem-solve across a global fleet of autonomous tractors and precision agriculture equipment.
- Use data to guide development decisions and validate novel robotics approaches.
- Address complex engineering problems with a focus on safety, reliability, and extensibility.
- Collaborate with and mentor robotics teammates through teaching and knowledge sharing.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of relevant experience across applied robotics and software engineering positions.
- BS, MS, or PhD in a related field.
- Experience shipping real production robots to real customers.
- Familiarity with C++ and ROS2 software development best practices, including testing and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience debugging issues across the hardware/software boundary and outside one’s primary area of expertise.
- Comfort working in a Linux environment.
- Preferred: expertise in path planning and optimization for low-latency, constrained-compute environments.
- Preferred: experience developing Rust in a production environment.
