Responsibilities
- Own backend systems end to end from greenfield development through production and ongoing operational support.
- Develop resilient APIs using Node.js, TypeScript, and PostgreSQL with just-in-time data access and comprehensive testing.
- Support and operate self-hosted EC2 and EKS components, including automated patching, hardening, and recovery.
- Manage AWS networking, VPC segmentation, IAM policies, and secure communication patterns.
- Integrate and operate third-party and central services, including secure file-transfer gateways and notification engines.
- Design monitoring, distributed tracing, metrics, and proactive alerting using CloudWatch and related tools.
- Implement auditable and reproducible infrastructure using Terraform and AWS CDK under policy-as-code requirements.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of backend engineering experience building, deploying, and maintaining complex production-grade systems independently.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, navigate ambiguity, identify blockers, and drive implementations to completion.
- Deep hands-on experience with cloud-native architectures, especially AWS networking, VPC, IAM, and secure data patterns.
- Proficiency with Node.js, TypeScript, and relational database design using PostgreSQL.
- Strong Linux administration knowledge and experience with Docker and Kubernetes container orchestration.
- Ability to explain complex technical trade-offs clearly to PMs, designers, business owners, and other non-technical stakeholders.
