Responsibilities
- Design, author, ship, extend, and maintain connector definitions for third-party REST and GraphQL APIs.
- Implement OAuth and other authentication flows, credential migrations, pagination, rate limiting, webhooks, and sync behavior.
- Triage production incidents, debug synchronization failures across distributed services, and drive root-cause fixes.
- Write hybrid backend code, automated unit and integration tests, build-system tests, and workflow/orchestration-based sync tests.
- Collaborate with the platform/framework team on new capabilities and framework-based versus custom connector decisions.
- Work with Product, Support, and Technical Writing on requirements, customer-impacting issues, and connector documentation.
Requirements
- 2–3 years of professional software engineering experience, ideally with backend services, third-party API integrations, or ELT/data-pipeline connectors.
- Strong proficiency in Java or a comparable statically typed backend language and ability to learn a declarative or functional connector-definition DSL.
- Strong understanding of REST and GraphQL APIs, including OAuth 2.0 and other authentication methods, pagination, rate limiting, and webhooks.
- Working knowledge of data synchronization and ELT concepts, including incremental and historical sync, schema design, and idempotency.
- Strong debugging skills with logs, multi-service failure tracing, and production incident root-cause analysis.
- Experience with Git-based workflows and collaborative code review.
- Clear written communication and ability to work cross-functionally.
- Preferred: exposure to Bazel, Gradle, or Maven; familiarity with Temporal, Airflow, or Step Functions; and experience maintaining SaaS/API connectors or working on integrations teams.
