Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and troubleshoot Python-based services, batch jobs, and data pipelines.
- Write secure, reliable, readable, and performant production Python code.
- Create design artifacts covering pipeline orchestration, processing logic, dependencies, failure handling, and service-level objectives.
- Analyze data to produce reports, metrics, visualizations, and operational insights.
- Detect data quality issues, drift, anomalies, execution bottlenecks, and other patterns to improve systems.
- Deliver projects independently or within distributed agile teams while maintaining ownership and accountability.
- Improve internal libraries and utilities, participate in engineering communities, and evaluate emerging technologies.
- Use authorized AI-assisted development and automation tools while validating outputs through review, testing, and secure coding practices.
Requirements
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and advanced applied experience.
- Hands-on experience with system design, Python application development, testing, and production operational stability.
- Strong Python proficiency for data processing, APIs and services, scripting, and automation.
- Experience with data engineering and analytics platforms such as PySpark, Databricks, Airflow, or similar orchestration tools.
- Experience with relational databases and SQL, plus familiarity with NoSQL databases and data modeling.
- Knowledge of data ingestion, validation, transformation, storage, governance, lineage, and consumption patterns.
- Ability to develop, debug, and maintain code in large enterprise environments with established controls and standards.
- Understanding of software development lifecycle practices, agile methodologies, continuous integration and delivery, resiliency, security, observability, and monitoring.
- Hands-on experience with authorized AI-assisted software development tools and the ability to critically evaluate generated outputs.
- Understanding of responsible AI use, data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, resiliency, and security expectations.
- Preferred: exposure to managed data platforms, streaming services, container orchestration, object storage, managed databases, and serverless compute.
- Preferred: experience with streaming and event-driven systems in payments or financial services.
- Preferred: familiarity with payment regulatory reporting requirements and related data workflows.
