Base Salary
$145k - $218k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end development of complex AI solutions, infrastructure, and architecture.
- Lead and guide engineers and data scientists while reviewing designs and code.
- Translate ambiguous business and product problems into technical direction and define engineering and data science success metrics.
- Design model architectures, retrieval strategies, prompting and orchestration layers, and evaluation frameworks for reliable and scalable products.
- Architect solutions for use cases across Citi’s lines of business with data science, technology, and business stakeholders.
- Contribute hands-on to software development, including coding and code review.
- Build and maintain Python-based Generative AI components, including RAG pipelines, model wrappers, orchestration logic, and data loaders.
- Ensure error handling, observability, and test coverage across codebases.
- Manage executive technology stakeholder relationships and multiple concurrent initiatives.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of software industry experience, including progressive hands-on experience in a senior position such as Principal Engineer.
- At least 6 years of hands-on Python engineering experience.
- Experience serving as a people manager, as the role may include management responsibilities.
- Extensive experience delivering complex technical solutions to production within the Python and AI/ML ecosystem.
- Proficiency in Python and experience integrating AI/ML technologies hands-on.
- Experience with cloud architectures and public cloud offerings.
- Ability to learn new technologies quickly and influence highly skilled engineering teams.
- Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, analytical, strategic-thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Financial industry experience is a major advantage.
- A bachelor’s or university degree or equivalent experience is required; a master’s degree is preferred.

- Primary location salary range is $145,100.00-$217,700.00 per year.
