Responsibilities
- Design, train, fine-tune, optimize, and deploy transformer-based language models and foundation models for efficient on-device use.
- Build semantic retrieval, embedding, reranking, retrieval-augmented generation, search, ranking, personalization, and recommendation systems.
- Develop models for query understanding, intent prediction, personalized retrieval, and ranking.
- Research knowledge distillation, model compression, quantization, pruning, and low-latency inference techniques.
- Optimize models for on-device memory, compute, power, privacy, and latency constraints.
- Evaluate language models, define AI quality metrics, and build automated and human-in-the-loop evaluation pipelines.
- Partner with engineering, research, product, and design teams to lead projects from exploration through large-scale deployment.
- Explore multimodal foundation models, tool use, agentic AI, and agentic retrieval systems.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of industry or research experience developing machine learning systems.
- Background in machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, information retrieval, search, recommender systems, or generative AI.
- Experience training, fine-tuning, or deploying transformer-based models and large language models.
- Experience with transformers, embeddings, representation learning, and neural ranking.
- Programming skills in Python and/or C/C++, with production software experience using machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, JAX, or TensorFlow.
- Preferred qualifications include a Master’s or Ph.D. degree, experience with on-device or edge AI, mobile inference, model distillation, retrieval-augmented generation, vector search, semantic search, query understanding, recommendation models, and large-scale production AI systems.
- Ability to prototype, conduct rigorous experiments, solve ambiguous technical problems, and translate research advances into production-quality machine learning solutions.
