Responsibilities
- Aggregate ecosystem data to attribute valuable merchant actions to acquisition channels and sales agents.
- Create data models, API contracts, and rules that automate commission workflows for sales agents, partnerships, and referrals.
- Build a centralized Lifecycle Event Log for merchant signups, product usage, verification, and purchases.
- Develop internal backoffices and APIs for monitoring commissions, modifying plans, managing portfolios, and resolving disputes.
- Define and document APIs, schemas, and integration patterns for adoption by other engineering teams.
- Establish testing, observability, and incident-response best practices within the new squad.
- Use AI and agentic coding tools for scaffolding, testing, code exploration, and documentation while retaining responsibility for shipped work.
Requirements
- Strong backend engineering experience in Go, or experience with a typed language and the ability to ramp up quickly.
- Experience designing APIs and distributed systems with clear contracts, versioning, and integration patterns.
- Fluency with relational and analytical databases, particularly PostgreSQL and Snowflake.
- Experience building Kafka-based event-driven systems and understanding event sourcing and CDC patterns.
- Background in auditable, high-trust systems such as fintech, payments, or similar domains.
- Experience building greenfield services in early-stage teams with limited prior context.
- Experience with testing, observability, and incident-response practices.
- Ability to take end-to-end ownership, adapt to shifting priorities, and work resourcefully.
- Ability to translate ambiguous problems and technical trade-offs for engineers and sales stakeholders.
- Pragmatic decision-making and a willingness to mentor and raise the engineering bar.
