Responsibilities
- Develop, enhance, and maintain the primarily Java-based codebase.
- Develop, enhance, and maintain the Network Query Engine using programming languages and database management system techniques.
- Deliver domain-specific languages used in Forward Enterprise development.
- Build and support tools, including IDE plugins, for the domain-specific languages.
- Implement language features such as query optimization, parsing, type checking, evaluation, static analysis, and editor support.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
- At least 3 years of work experience with Java, Scala, or similar languages such as C#, F#, or other comparable languages.
- Strong object-oriented design and development skills.
- A master’s degree is preferred.
- Preferred experience includes functional programming with languages such as Scala, Haskell, OCaml, Scheme, or F#.
- Preferred experience includes implementing programming-language or domain-specific-language components such as parsers, type checkers, compilers, evaluators, static analysis, optimization passes, or editor support.
- Preferred experience includes implementing database-like systems such as query parsers, query optimizers, execution pipelines, or storage formats.
- Preferred experience with Apache Parquet, Iceberg, DataFusion, and JVM-based application performance optimization.
- Networking-domain experience is a plus but is not required.
