Base Salary
$153k - $257k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and ship cross-platform mobile architecture for AI conversations, streaming responses, topic-based structures, and multimodal content.
- Own architectural decisions for the ZIM messaging core across iOS and Android using Swift and Kotlin.
- Build resilient real-time messaging experiences for unreliable mobile networks and define observability and SLOs.
- Partner with AI, Web, Backend, product, and design teams on Zillow’s conversational AI roadmap.
- Use AI coding agents in production workflows and help establish team standards for their use.
- Improve testing and delivery velocity through unit, snapshot, and UI automation and shared tooling.
- Mentor engineers across both platforms and increase cross-platform team depth.
Requirements
- 5+ years of building and shipping native mobile applications at consumer scale.
- Production experience on both iOS and Android, or deep expertise in one platform with demonstrated delivery in the other.
- Fluency in Swift and Kotlin and comfort with SwiftUI and Jetpack Compose.
- Experience building features on real-time or streaming data.
- Experience integrating GraphQL clients and handling caching and cache invalidation.
- Production experience using AI coding agents and a considered perspective on their appropriate use.
- Experience owning the architecture of a module or platform used by other teams and documenting its adoption.
- Clear communication with engineers, product managers, and designers.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
- Preferred: experience integrating LLM or generative AI features into consumer mobile products.
- Preferred: experience with messaging, chat, or communications products.
- Preferred: experience with on-device inference or streaming/token-level UI rendering.
- Preferred: experience driving technical standards adoption beyond the immediate team.
