Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement efficient optimization algorithms and software for resource allocation, scheduling, routing, mission planning, control systems, and supply-chain logistics.
- Apply classical optimization techniques to model problems and explore novel approaches.
- Use OpenAI Codes, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, and similar GenAI tools to prototype, refine, and test solutions.
- Develop robust data models and efficient data pipelines for optimization inputs and outputs.
- Collaborate with software engineers, data scientists, domain experts, and product managers to integrate optimization engines into defense systems and platforms.
- Test, validate, and analyze optimization performance for scalability, reliability, and accuracy.
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle from requirements gathering and design through deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
- Support customer-funded and Anduril-funded R&D, technical documentation, presentations, and patent applications.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, or a related quantitative field.
- 3+ years of professional software-development experience focused on optimization, algorithmic problem-solving, or operations research.
- Experience solving optimization problems in defense, transportation, supply chain, logistics, network optimization, smart grids, or similar domains.
- Expert proficiency in Python for scientific computing and software development.
- Strong theoretical and practical understanding of classical optimization algorithms, including linear programming, mixed-integer linear programming, constraint programming, network flow, dynamic programming, heuristics, and metaheuristics.
- Hands-on experience with optimization libraries and commercial or open-source solvers such as SciPy Optimize, PuLP, CVXPY, Gurobi, CPLEX, OR-Tools, or GEKKO.
- Experience with data modeling, data structures, and algorithms for optimization data preparation and processing.
- Hands-on experience using GenAI development tools for code generation, debugging, and algorithmic exploration.
- Proficiency with NumPy, SciPy, and Pandas.
- Experience with Git, modular design, testing frameworks such as pytest, and code review processes.
- Ability to develop, test, and deploy software on Linux-based systems.
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active US Top Secret SCI security clearance.
- Master’s or Ph.D. in a related quantitative field is preferred.
- Quantum optimization, quantum computing, quantum-inspired heuristics, or D-Wave experience is preferred.
- C++ or Java experience is preferred.
- AWS, Azure, GCP, or HPC deployment experience is preferred.
- Experience integrating machine-learning models with optimization techniques is preferred.
- Strong communication skills and willingness to travel up to approximately 10% are preferred.
