Base Salary
$100k - $130k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable backend services and microservices for cloud and IoT-scale systems.
- Build REST/gRPC APIs and event-driven pub/sub architectures using MQTT, Kafka, RabbitMQ, and Pub/Sub.
- Enable secure device-to-cloud and service-to-service communication for IoT systems.
- Build and operate CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native deployments using Docker and Google Kubernetes Engine.
- Troubleshoot complex application, messaging, network, and infrastructure issues using networking expertise and Wireshark.
- Design SQL and NoSQL data models and implement security practices using IAM, Cloud KMS, and Secret Manager.
- Mentor engineers, conduct code reviews, collaborate with network and security teams, and uphold engineering best practices.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional software development experience.
- At least 3 years of backend development experience using Python, Go, Java, C++, or Node.js, with exposure to public cloud, DevOps, and networking fundamentals.
- Hands-on experience designing and operating event-driven architectures using MQTT; experience with Google Pub/Sub, Kafka, or RabbitMQ is a plus.
- Experience with GCP or another major cloud provider, including VPCs, subnets, Cloud Load Balancing, and Cloud Firewalls.
- Hands-on experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions.
- Proficiency with Docker and Kubernetes, preferably GKE, including deployment, scaling, and configuration management.
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, GCP Cloud SQL, or Datastore.
- Strong API design, distributed-systems integration, debugging, technical leadership, mentoring, and code review skills.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience preferred.
- Experience with high-scale distributed systems, IoT platforms, edge computing, SDN, observability, or network automation tools is a bonus.
- Legal authorization to work indefinitely in the United States is required; sponsorship is unavailable.
