Responsibilities
- Own the technical vision and architecture for global remittance and cross-border payment platforms.
- Design multi-currency money movement, FX rate locking, payout routing, ledgering, and liquidity-management capabilities.
- Architect reliable integrations with global payout partners, banking networks, and local clearing rails including PIX, SPEI, FedNow, and SWIFT.
- Build transaction execution engines supporting exact-once delivery, deterministic ledger balancing, auditability, and massive concurrency.
- Embed AML, KYC, sanctions screening, and regulatory capabilities into payment paths.
- Lead RFCs, design reviews, technical documentation, and cross-organizational architectural decisions.
- Mentor senior engineers across payments squads in distributed systems, resilience engineering, and payment-domain knowledge.
Requirements
- Proven experience designing, operating, and scaling highly available, mission-critical backend distributed platforms.
- Deep hands-on experience with remittance systems, cross-border payments, multi-currency ledger engines, FX execution services, or international payment-clearing integrations.
- Strong knowledge of event-driven architectures, transactional consistency, distributed sagas or orchestration, double-entry accounting engines, and high-concurrency microservices.
- Experience designing developer-friendly APIs, SDKs, and platform boundaries for product teams.
- Ability to write comprehensive design documents, guide executive leadership on technical trade-offs, and build consensus across distributed teams.
- Fluent English is required; Portuguese or Spanish is a plus.
- Experience in fintech, payments, banking, or cloud platform infrastructure is relevant.
