Base Salary

$120k - $235k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Lead investigation and analysis of complex distributed systems and trace the causes of faults.
  • Identify bottlenecks and load concentration, mitigate issues independently, and define automated load-distribution algorithms.
  • Establish robust algorithms and heuristics for degraded hardware and recurring system events across teams and organizations.
  • Develop reliable, scalable, efficient, and diagnosable solutions for observed issues and bottlenecks.
  • Implement new system capabilities that can be deployed incrementally and safely.
  • Serve as a Designated Responsible Individual, mentor engineers, participate in on-call monitoring, and respond to degradation, downtime, or interruptions.
  • Improve availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance while driving consistent monitoring and operations at scale.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 4+ years of technical engineering experience, or equivalent experience.
  • Coding experience in C, C++, C#, or Java.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
  • Preferred: master’s degree and 6+ years of technical engineering experience, or bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of technical engineering experience, or equivalent experience.

Benefits

  • The typical U.S. base pay range is $119,800–$234,700 per year.
  • A separate base pay range applies to specific work locations in the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan area: $160,200–$261,000 per year.
  • Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and additional compensation.
  • Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis until the position is filled, with the posting open for at least five days.
