Base Salary
$180k - $210k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, ship, and operate core distributed microservices written in Go and Python.
- Build real-time event-streaming and data-processing pipelines using Kafka.
- Design API interfaces using REST, GraphQL, and gRPC.
- Design efficient Postgres schemas, optimize queries, and manage ORM data paths and migrations.
- Provision, maintain, and scale GCP and AWS infrastructure using Terraform.
- Manage continuous delivery pipelines with GitHub Actions.
- Maintain reliability, low latency, observability, distributed tracing, and metrics with Datadog.
- Own a technical domain with light supervision, write design specifications, lead PR reviews, ship systems, and carry the pager for delivered services.
- Lead the end-to-end design and implementation of a major event-driven or API capability.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of experience building and operating backend systems in production.
- Deep experience with Go and Python, including concurrent and high-performance systems.
- Strong database fundamentals with Postgres and relational ORMs, including query optimization and schema migration strategies.
- Experience building and maintaining Kafka-based event-driven architectures.
- Expertise designing production APIs with REST, GraphQL, or gRPC.
- Hands-on experience with GCP and/or AWS, Terraform infrastructure as code, and GitHub Actions continuous delivery.
- Familiarity with observability, distributed tracing, and metrics tooling in Datadog.
- Strong written communication for design documents and clear pull-request reviews.
- Ability to own a technical domain, propose direction, work with light supervision, and take on-call responsibility.
