Base Salary
$201k - $240k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, and deploy backend services powering Within’s AI platform.
- Develop data ingestion, storage, APIs, background processing, and deployment architecture.
- Implement resilient AI orchestration workflows using structured outputs, tool calling, state management, grounding, evaluations, and guardrails.
- Build secure, scalable systems with least-privilege access, tenant isolation, auditability, and secure data handling.
- Own features end-to-end while translating ambiguous product needs into technical specifications and working prototypes.
Requirements
- 1–3 years of experience shipping production code, or exceptional new graduates with strong portfolios.
- Backend engineering experience designing reliable, observable, secure, and performant services, APIs, data models, and infrastructure.
- Experience building at least one meaningful AI-powered project in production, open source, research, or a serious side project.
- Understanding of LLMs, multimodal agents, orchestration, evaluation, model regression testing, traceability, and exception handling.
- Strong systems thinking, architectural judgment, distributed-systems fundamentals, and evidence of strong execution.
- A CS or Engineering degree is not required.
