Responsibilities
- Lead the technical design and implementation of AI automation initiatives across software products, services, or platforms.
- Build AI-enabled workflows for requirements or story generation, documentation scaffolding, and code scaffolding.
- Design and implement RAG pipelines, lightweight intelligent agents, and MCP or equivalent integrations.
- Integrate AI-assisted code generation and validation with guardrails, automated checks, feature flags, staged rollouts, and safe rollback conditions.
- Implement human-in-the-loop checkpoints, prompt and policy guardrails, provenance and traceability, and least-privilege access controls.
- Prepare runbooks, dashboards, and alerts; participate in incident response and post-incident reviews.
- Monitor and optimize reliability, latency, correctness, cost, model drift, and retrieval quality for AI features.
- Define and enforce AI governance covering data handling, retention, access control, regulatory traceability, hallucination detection, data leakage, and model drift.
- Ensure features include automated tests, documentation, and observability through logs, metrics, and traces.
- Influence architecture and technical direction, mentor engineers, and promote engineering best practices across teams.
Requirements
- BS or MS in computer science or a related engineering discipline.
- 8+ years of experience as a Software Engineer, Full Stack Engineer, or in a comparable role.
- Experience leading complex technical initiatives, making architecture decisions, and delivering production-grade software systems.
- Hands-on experience integrating RAG, embeddings or vector databases, lightweight agents, or MCP-style integrations into engineering workflows.
- Experience with distributed systems, APIs, service-level design, operational readiness, incident response, and service reliability practices.
- Practical experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP; Docker; and exposure to Kubernetes.
- Experience with GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or GitLab; feature flagging; and Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform or ARM.
- Working knowledge of prompt engineering, embedding stores or vector databases, and retrieval-quality evaluation.
- Strong testing and observability practices, including unit and integration testing, logging, metrics, and distributed tracing.
- Understanding of data privacy, access controls, and secure handling of embeddings and logs.
- Strong system and service design, scalability, performance optimization, and AI or platform cost trade-off skills.
- Experience with AI checks in CI/CD, model evaluation, offline or online metrics, A/B testing for ML features, or MCP-style context-sharing protocols is preferred.
- Excellent English communication skills are required; German and regulated medical-device experience are advantageous.
